How To Make Cold Water Starch Powder

Cold water starch powder is used to stiffen clothes and fabrics. It is used in cold water at room temperature on the fabric to be treated. Fortunately, production of cold water starch is a lucrative business due to it’s high demand. Cold water starch powder is easy to use; it does not require boiling water to prepare it, this has made it a darling to starch users and launderers.

The raw materials for producing it are affordable and readily available in the market. Cold water starch powder is used during laundry and is applicable on a small or large scale.

Today, I will be teaching you how to make cold water starch powder using Dextrin. The Dextrin method is the most suitable for micro and small scale entrepreneurs. It eliminates the use of roller mills, flash dryer and pulverisers.

Chemicals Needed To Make Cold Water Starch Powder: 10 kg Batch

  • Dextrin – 9.9 kg
  • Soda ash light – 100g
  • Perfume (optional) – TSP
  • Colourant (powder) – 1 tsp (optional or blue)

Note: TSP means tablespoonful. Tsp means teaspoonful.

Step By Step Guide On How To Produce Cold Water Starch Powder

Step 1: Get a BIG bowl

Strep 2: Pour Dextrin in the BIG bowl

Step 3: Add Soda Ash Light to the content in the BIG bowl

Step 4: Add Perfume and Color if needed

Step 5: Mix properly until it’s homogeneous, and packed for sale.
