If you are interested in linking your National Identification Number (NIN) with your mobile number; then you are in the right post.
Sometimes in 2019; I had to I wake up by 4:30am to get myself registered for National ID Card in a NIMC center in my local government – it was that tedious! Aside from the stress of waking up early to locate the center; there are lots of huddles in getting this done; like network failure, power failure, shortage of staff and many more. Even after the whole process; I had to wait another 8 months or so to collect my laminated NIMC slip. Up till now; I have not gotten my plastic ID card. It’s unfortunate we have to go through this all the time when it has to do with national properties. Anyway, that is not why I am here today.
Link your National Identification Number (NIN) with your SIM registration data is very simple if you have your National ID Card. Unfortunately, dialing all these telecommunication codes does not seems to work. For instance, before I got my mobile number linked; I was dialing *785#Your NIN# but I was getting a useless message instead. Until I found this best and easiest way to link your NIN to your mobile number – this is by far the easiest way o o o.
Why Do I need the NIN number?
The NIN will be used to create records about an individual into the National Identity Database and is also used as a valid means of verifying and confirming individual identity.
Before I proceed; I think you need to understand these two terms NIN and NIMC.
What Exactly Is NIN?
The National Identification Number (NIN) is the unique number which identifies you as a Nigerian and is issued to you at the completion of enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB) by NIMC. Once a NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given or used by another person – that makes it unique in nature. All citizens and legal residents in Nigeria, from age zero (birth) and above are eligible to enroll for their NINs.
What is NIMC?
National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is the legal body established by the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007 with the mandate to establish, own, operate, maintain and manage the National Identity Database in Nigeria, register persons covered by the Act, assign a Unique National Identification Number (NIN) and issue General Multi-Purpose Cards (GMPC) to those who are citizens of Nigeria as well as others legally residing within the country.
Before you can link your NIN to your mobile number; you must have your NIN already. So, how do you know your NIN number?
If you have been successful registered before at any NIMC center; then check the NIN Slip that you were given which has your 11 Digit Number at the top left corner, second row.
Another way to check if you have a NIN is to dial *346# and press 1 on the line you used to register with NIMC. Please note, you will be charged N20 for checking your NIN with this code.

Step 4: Install the app on your mobile phone
Step 5: Click on Open to launch the NIN app
Step 6: Click SKIP on the left button corner to take you to the end of the slides or click NEXT if you like to read through the slides.
