Akin Alabi is an Internet entrepreneur, author, direct marketing consultant, publisher, motivational speaker and philanthropist. Born on March 31, 1977 in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria, to Chief and Mrs Adediran Alabi, Akin had his primary education at command children school, Ibadan and secondary school education at Federal Government College, Enugu.
He proceeded to the Polytechnic Ibadan where he obtained his Higher National Diploma in Business Administration. His desire for more knowledge has made him obtain professional certificate courses in business, marketing and management in glamorous institutions like the London School of Economics and the Harvard Business school.
Akin Alabi started his business career in 2003 writing and selling books and other information products. He proceeded to launching his own seminar and training company specializing in teaching and consulting for other young people starting their own small businesses.
Being a man that never rests on his laurels, he started publishing a business opportunity newspaper titled INCOME which has become a bible for small business owners. To add to his publishing enterprise, Akin launched, World Soccer News, a weekly sports newspaper.
Since then, Akin Alabi has gone on to start many other small businesses. One of them we cannot but mention is NairaBET.com, a sports bookmaking outfit with over 1,000 outlets across Nigeria. The website has also been ranked by Alexa.com as the most visited African sports bookmaking website.
Akin Alabi is a man of many parts. He also has his hands in the entertainment industry. He is the founder of Over The Top Entertainment. Award winning pop duo of SKUKI is under the record label of this outfit. The company also boasts of state of the art recording and rehearsal studio among others.
Professionally, Akin Alabi is the national vice president of the Association of Information Marketers of Nigeria. He is also the president of National bookmakers association.
Akin Alabi is heavily involved in philanthropic works. He is the founder of Akin Alabi Foundation, a non-governmental, not for profit outfit, aimed at improving the well being of the average Nigerian. With the motto, touching lives one person at a time, the foundation has successfully implemented projects like building and donations classrooms to primary schools, sinking of bore holes in areas where there is scarcity of water, financial empowerment of widows, free business and vocational trainings for youths and lots more.
Recognizing all these, Akin Alabi was honoured with the chieftaincy title of Otunba Atunlushe of Igbole Ekiti by the Olugbole of Igbole Ekiti, HRM Oba Emmanuel.O. Ajayi Adetiloye II.
