Meanings Of Common Acronyms Used In Organic Soap And Cream Mixing Production

For those who don’t know; I have been into organic soap production for more than 3 years. I have also thought over hundreds of people over the years, who are doing very well at the moment. To be honest, I love when I make my soap myself; be it chemical or organic. There is this feeling of safety when you produce your soap yourself.

If you are someone who like taking care of his or her skin; you would have read about skin cancer and some other skin diseases. The major cause of these diseases are harmful substances that commercial company used in their soap making. Remember, these companies are majorly in business to make profit; so, they care a little about what happens to you or your skin in the long run. Now you see another reason why you need to know how to produce both chemical and organic soap.

Sometimes, last year; I tried teaching organic production on this platform (EarnBase), but because of my freelancing career, I could not. Although, I am off freelancing for now; so, I felt I should use this opportunity to start up this session. So, if you have been longing to learn organic soap production the right way; here is another opportunity. Make sure you don’t miss this opportunity for anything.

Before I start these series of tutorials; I will love to quickly go over some common essential terms used in organic soap and cream mixing industry. 

  1. Tbs or Tbsp: Both of these acronyms means tablespoon used for measurement.
  2. SPF: This means the sun protecting factor, which is used to protect ourselves from the harmful ultra-violet rays.
  3. Mixer: This comes in different forms e.g. hand mixer, standing mixer or use a wooden spoon.
  4. Shelf life: This means the period in which your products can survive; another word – expired date.
  5. Base cream: This is the cream in which other products are mixed to meet your production need.
  6. Pro mixing: This is the combination of organic and inorganic ingredients to achieve a desire and faster results, these ingredients are put together to help facilitates a faster result and effective result in skin care.  However, these ingredients are free from mercury, hydroquinone, steroids and other harsh ingredients that are harmful to the body.
  7. Double boiler: This is a set of two fitted saucepans or pots that are stacked into one another with space between them. The bottom saucepan (Big pot) is filled with water, and then the second saucepan (Small pot) is stacked on top. The steam from the bottom pot rises and heats the upper pot. In other words, place a wide pot on fire with water and put a thick glass bowl in it to melt your products. This means you are not heating or melting your products directly from stove or gas but from the pot. This is done to control the amount of heat on our product. I hope you understand this?
  8. Preservative: This is a substance added to our soap or cream to extend its life shelf.
  9. Measurements cups: These are cups used for measurement; they come in different sizes and used for measuring.
