Personally, I like eating fish; be it frozen or not. However, occasionally, I eat frozen turkey and chicken, but that is not where I’m going today; as my intention is how to teach you how you can start a frozen foods business.

Frozen foods consists of fish, turkey and chicken business; it is a good venture that can make a decent cash. Take a look at the number of restaurants, food vendors, hotels, fast food joints, and bars that are scattered all over the place; is a clear indication that this is indeed a cool business. For instance, a kilogram of frozen chicken goes for a minimum of N650 – N700, but can be sold between N900 – N1,200; depending on the size, location, and season. But before I go into detail; I will like to discuss with you some of the challenges that comes with this business.

Challenges Of Frozen Foods

  1. Poor power supply: Truth be told; this is not a business you can run solely on generator, except you are using the generator for other things. For instance, if you are in a site where there is no light and you have to run on generator; then, starting this business can be a good idea. As the generator can also help in serving your business. Remember generator will not freeze the chicken except you leave it for 24 hours, if you are in a place where there is power supply you can use electricity to freeze the chicken and use generator to retain it.
  2. Nigeria custom officer: The ban by Federal Government on the importation of chicken has put a strain in the supply of this product. Unfortunately, the number of Poultry farmers in Nigeria is enough to cater for our population. This is another issue for people selling frozen foods; especially, chicken and turkey. So, to be on a safer side; it is better you buy from Nigeria Instead of importing to Nigeria.
