In today’s post, I am going to share with you the two basic steps used in making black soap for skin whitening.

1. Making Black Africa Soap From Scratch

This is actually not an easy process; as it involves the making of the black African soap from scratch. However, I am going to give you a quick tutorial on how this is done. If you want to be completely sure of the ingredients that go into your soap, making your own African black soap from scratch is actually the way to go.

Quick steps on how to produce African black soap from scratch:

Step 1: Take some clean plantain skins and dry them out in the sun or roast them in the oven.

Step 2: Burn the skins to receive the ash that will be an active ingredient of your black soap.

Step 3: Dissolve the ashes in a warm distilled water until you get a dark solution.

Step 4: Put the mixture in a pot, and bring to a boil; then take off the heat, and pour the mixture through a sieve.

Step 5: Set aside the ash from the sieve.

Step 6: Using a double boiler, heat up your base oil – palm kernel oil, cocoa butter, or shea butter.

Step 7: Wait until the base oil melts, and stir in your ash liquid. At this point you can add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and anything else you want to see in your black soap, like essential oils or dried herbs.

Continue heating the mixture until you see a dark, frothy substance appears on the surface – that’s the black soap. Scoop it out and place it into prepared molds. Scoop until the water has evaporated.

Step 8: Place the molds with black soap in a cool place to cure for about two weeks; then it’s ready for use.

2. Customize black soap

This is the easiest method to use; as it requires you buying a ready-made black African soap to mix with your desired ingredients. If you already have black soap you made before or bought from a brand you trust, you can easily customize it by adding the necessary ingredients.
