How to Make Hand Sanitizer Gel For Coronavirus

Sequel to my previous post on how to make hand sanitizer for corona virus. I have received several requests on how to make commercial hand sanitizer with some features; which I am going to be attending to in this post.

Like I said in my previous post; COVIC-19 is deadly, but can be controlled if we take caution. Make sure you do the following:

  1. Wash your hand regularly with soap and water
  2. Regularly use alcohol base Hand sanitizer (I will be dealing with this here today)
  3. Keep good social distance from people; whether they are sick or not. This is because there are some people carrying the virus without knowing it.
  4. Do not touch your eye, ear, nose or mouth with your hand.
  5. Stay at home if you can.

Ingredients For Making Original Hand Sanitizer Gel For Coronavirus

There are basically three ingredients needed to make original hand sanitizer that is satisfied by WHO; which are listed below:

Ethanol ………………………………..….… 1 liter

Carbopol ……………………………………… 1/8 kg

Glycerin ………………………………………. 15 ml

Vitamin E (optional) …………………………….……… 15 ml

Aloe Vera (Optional) ………………………….………… 10 ml

Perfume (Optional) ………………………………… As desired

How To Produce Original Hand Sanitizer Gel

Step 1: Boil small amount of water and allow it to cool to room temperature

Step 2: Mix the Carbopol with the cool boiled water

Step 3: Pour the Carbopol mixture into Ethanol

Step 4: Add glycerin

Step 5: Add Vitamin E

Step 6: Aloe Vera

Step 7: Add Perfume

Please note: Carbopol is not a MUST; its function is just to make your production Gelly like.

Carbopol is a water-soluble polymer, used as an emulsifying, stabilizing, suspending, thickening and gelling agent in many industries. Carbopol is available in several different grades, which are widely used in manufacture of cosmetics and toiletries, including gels, creams and lotions, detergents, and air freshners. The gelling effect is activated in two stages, firstly the dispersion and hydration of the Carbopol, and secondly “neutralizing” the solution by the addition of chemicals which increase the pH. Neutralizing agents include triethanolamine (TEA), sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide.

Unfortunately, some chemical shops have stop selling and those who are selling are selling at a very high rate. So, you are better off without it. The main active ingredient is Ethanol.

  1. Please is there an alternative to carbopol in making hand sanitizer. I tried natrosol but it forms cloudy solution. How do I make it transparent. Thank you

  2. Please Sir I want know the difference between ethanol and IPA, because someone told me that both are used for the production but ipa with greater quantity than ethanol. Also if I put the carbopol in the water will it form to gel or is there any other chemical agent here that makes it to form to gel. Sorry for my long post.

    • There is no point to use both IPA and Ethanol You see, most people felt by doing so, their hand sanitizer will be more effective; which is not true. The recommended ingredients by WHO is ethanol and glycerin; carbopol is even optional.

However, because you asked; the different between both IPA and Ethanol are:
      1. Both smells differently
      2. Both have different level of Alcohol; some 99% of alcohol while another may have 75% of alcohol.

I hope this helps. Thanks for visiting EarnBase

    • The total quantity equals the sum of the quantities of ingredients used. In place of boil water; you can use distil water.
